Re: the call in "A Night In" - it's definitely the weather forecast (Kenny dials it for Lynda when she insists that he dial Mr Sullivan's number to dob on Spike) - the Programme Guide (ie Jim Sangster et al's) (god, I should be on commision :)) has a section on telephone use in each episode (don't ask me why!) which mentions the weather call.
