to: press gang mailing list, Matt Saunders, owner-pressgang, majordomo-owner hello I know that when I write to a mailing list all people subscribed to the list can read my mails. This is what mailing lists are about. I also know that everybody is free to subscribe to this list. Fine by me. BUT I do not want everybody who is doing a web search for my name to get direct links to every message I ever wrote to this list which is the case right now. Doing a web-search for my own name on Yahoo (search for "Erik Gander") 45 matches turned up, 41 of which were my messages to this list. I have been member in several mailing lists and none of their archives ever turned up on Yahoo. I wrote these mails for this closed group, not for the pleasure of those who collect data of individuals to sell them to companies and junk-mailers. I would like to ask the person in charge for the archives to do whatever necessary to prevent web-searchers from scanning the archives as well as move them so the links will no longer work. If that proves not possible please remove my messages from the archives. Same search for "Matt Saunders","pressgang" turned up more than 1400 of his mails to the list. Here's a hint: year 2010, your future boss: "well Mr. Saunders, let's see in your files what you said about Colin Matthews 13 years ago. Oh, I see you didn't like him. Well, I do like him very much. You are fired." Exaggeration? No really. Think about it for yourself. thank you erik -- T H E P R E S S G A N G M A I L I N G L I S T By default, pressing 'reply' will send mail back to the list, not to the author of the message you're replying to.
