Dan informed us: >Here are segments from Anthony Lane's review of "SpiceWorld" concerning PG >alum director Bob Spiers: >"Even so, those (performed musical) hits are sweetly energetic, like sex >without the rude bits, and you might have thought the director, Bob Spiers, >would have the gallantry to stand aside and let the Girls do their >stuff...Spiers is no mug having directed "Absolutely Fabulous" for the BBC, >but it has to be said that nearly every scene...falls on its nose." Picking on Bob Spiers? .... let me at 'im ;) ... and as a long term BritCom addict and (thus) fan of Bob Spiers work I have to say - does anyone else find it slightly annoying that the guy (and people like Julia S, Jennifer Saunders ...) can be working his butt off for nigh-on a generation in Britain, but a show like AbFab makes it big and suddenly (as far as the media is concerned) it's the first thing anyone involved has done? (I often suspect that that is one of the reasons why Jennifer Saunders stopped making it). ...or maybe I just need to get my Lithium prescription refilled :) Murray, who finished an email half an hour ago by saying he desperately had to get to sleep, but still hasn't quite managed it. PS - In case you're wondering, Im not anti AbFab - I was a fan from the start (and indeed was involved in trying to get an Australian fan club running on the 'net many many moons ago). ___________________________________________________________________ Murray Head muzza@omen.net.au http://www.omen.net.au/~muzza/ mhead@anhb.uwa.edu.au (Anatomy and Human Biology, UWA) -- T H E P R E S S G A N G M A I L I N G L I S T By default, pressing 'reply' will send mail back to the list, not to the author of the message you're replying to.
