I've checked the newspapers and the ABC website - I hate to be the bearer

been rescheduled to make way for the ABC's coverage of the Constitutional
Convention. (For those outside Aus, the C.C. is a big discussion between
elected delegates about what would be the preferred model for an Australian
head of state (at the moment our official head of State is Queen 'Liz of
England)).

Actually, I believe the head of state in OZ is Queen Liz (if you must) the
II of Australia. In NZ, the head of state is Queen Liz the II of New
Zealand and in Canada the head of state is Queen Elizabeth the II of Canada.
Anyway Jamaica will beat Australia by at least two years (expected 1999,
ceremonial Jamaican President (same powers as Governor General) and the
Privy council will be replaced by a Caribbean supreme court.).
I actually think the above is a good idea but I am worried that the
Australian politicians will subvert the peoples will and NOT adopt the
Irish model of an elected President but with ceremonial power.
Oliver who will say no more on these constitutional matters except that he
is named after the first English Republican.
