One should remember that a lot of water has flown under the bridge since DRAGON, and in the fifth season, Lynda's confident enough of socializing that she's on the Junior Gazette football team and is enjoying herself, even if Frazz is not! She only misses going out with the gang in QUARTER TO MIDNIGHT because she gets locked in a safe. Spike had finally persuaded her to go to one of their parties. I suspect there's a big difference between Lynda S5 and S2 and since a lot of the Lynda-Spike relationship in S5 is off-camera, Lynda's being assimilated into the mainstream of young adult life. Kicking and screaming sometimes, but she's moving. Lynda's much maligned sense of humor is always underrated by everyone: her put-downs of Spike in the first season are proof she can be funny, but only when she wants to, much in the way her memory is rather selective about who she knows and why.
