>Okay, first the good news - at the second PG convention I spent >copious quantities of my meagre student grant on a copy of the script >for "There Are Crocodiles." If "Star Wars" and "Red Dwarf" can get >away with it, I think PG should be allowed to. Just think, they >could CGI Sarah so that she has exactly the same haircut in every >episode, and not that horrible spiky thing from series 3 and 4! Remember when Julie rejoined the team? - she sees Sarah and says "love the hair!" - I'm sitting there thinking "WHAT?". ON the subject of videos - the problem is not only one of getting distribution, but also post-production. The unused material probably lacks a lot of stuff - sound effects, music, something-they-do-to-make-the-colour-look-hyper-real(and thus look right on the screen)-which-Murray-isn't-clever-enough-to-know-the-name-for, etc - but I've seen this level of footage inderted before and, while noticable for lacking these things, it doesn't detract too much. I had thought for a second that a partly as-on-screen and partly unused footage version might have existed as part of the production process, but I doubt that now - they would have done the post-production on a completed version of the episode - which means that at a minimum, editing would be required before a full version could be released. While I'd love to see a full version, the cost of editting, arranging copying, etc etc for such a relatively small run of tapes may be prohibitive. Still, we can always see what Richmond Films and TV say to the idea...
