Also, in "Love and War" , Lynda makes a comment about liking Spike's dad
and how he was nothing like was she had expected (from Spike's
discriptions). I think the "slob" view is just Spike's perception of his
father although others don't see it. People tend to be more critical of
their parents than of other people's parents. Also , Spike seems to blame
his father for his mum leaving (various references in "A Night In") which
is obviously a touchy subject for him.
O.K., enough psychoanalysis for now...
