Yes, it always was a problem that every series ending bar the first was intentionally made to appear to be "absolutely the last". Series 5 did at least do better than some of its forebears in the publicity department at the time, due to two factors: Julia and Dexter being together off-screen and the recent success of the first series of AbFab. I remember it really grated on me that Julia was constantly referred to as "Julia Sawalha from AbFab", with her much longer-standing role in PG being tagged on almost as an irrelevant afterthought. Still, *we* know she'll always be Lynda... > I've heard a few British fans complain about this, but I was sent a > letter (not a handwritten, personal letter or anything), informing me > that Series 5 of PG would be starting in a couple of weeks. It was directed by several well-known PG hands though: Bill Ward (who had then to direct any PG episodes as it was made before series 5) and Geoff Hogg (ex-PG film editor) amongst others. Personally I thought it was dreadful (sorry to any RF&TV people who may be looking in, but that's my opinion!). I couldn't believe it came from the same stable as PG, to be honest, although it was nice to see some former PG cast members turn up in both the regular and guest roles. > I'm not sure how the Press > Gang HQ got my address - probably through the dozens of fan letters I > sent when I was about ten! > As far as I know, they had a massive file of about a thousand names, all of people who had written fan letters to Richmond F&TV in the past. I remember that mailshot well... it quite surprised me too; in fact I've still got the letter to this day! The same strategy was used to publicise the conventions and fanzines... Richmond released their internal paperwork to the organisers. Regards, Ade _| Adrian E.C. Petford "You might very well think that.
