[I tried to send this originally, but I'm pretty sure my computer died before it was actually sent.] Hi, Well, How to start... My Lord's Ladies and Gentlemen... [too pompous, too 'Royal Variety'] Right, I was so drunk I had no idea... [too 'Fun Bobby' (Friends)] No one likes me, so there's no point even writing... [too true] I'm Julian Fletcher, 17, living in Norfolk, England (big bulging area in the south east). Doing a mere three A Levels, and surprisingly not running a commercial newspaper, (either you've got it or you ain't). I first saw PG in the good old days of ITV, showing it as it was made in order one after another each week. Instead of this haphazard 'lets miss out that one', 'never really liked that one', 'not enough Dexter [presenter faints at the mention of his name] in that one' idea of Nickelodeon. As to favourites, I suppose the classic of There Are Crocodiles is top. Followed by the likes of The Last Word, Love and the Junior Gazette, At Last a Dragon, The rest of My Life, Monday-Tuesday... I could go on, is there a bad episode, I doubt it, (though the Ade Edmondson episode I wasn't too keen on, not sure why). On the subject of the books, I bought one at a second hand sale for 80p in pretty good nick, (number 4, already having no. 1, BTW), and I have to say, aside from the great pictures there are two great points to them. i) when you need to find a quote that for some terrible and horrendous reason you've forgot, it's easier to flick through a book than a whole video. ii) you can get a feel for what is behind the characters (whether this is what was originally intended when characters where introduced is anyones guess) I quote two classic examples. The first explaining why Matt Kerr left Fleet Street (this was never explained on tv [was it?]); and secondly Spike hiding his intelligence (for whatever reason), in particular one instance in 'Money Love and Birdseed' Spike quotes from the bible 'forgive and ye shall be forgiven' Linda is impressed and for a moment thinks he's as clever as he really is, later on in the conversation Spike decides against quoting Shakespeare because "the bible had got him into enough trouble". Anyway. Got to go. Urgent revision needs tp be done otherwise death swiftly follows (I do have nearly two months till my exams, but with my teachers...) See ya (or actually won't 'see' perhaps 'read' would be more appropriate) I just hope I didn't sound as boring as I think I did. -- Julian Fletcher --------------- 'No matter what happens, we must never lose sight of what what makes us what we are; Faith, Thought, Love and Happiness' - * THE PRESS GANG MAILING LIST * * To unsubscribe from this list, send mail containing the * word "unsubscribe" to "pressgang-request@yoyo.org". * * By default, replies are directed back to this list, * not to the author of the message you're replying to. |
