Since all they teach are such chores as cooking, and maintaing a good home, Steven Moffat might have been implying that it doesn't take much intelegance to teach this topic, and therefore didn't understand the insult. On the other hand, she might have been impressed by the use of the simmily, and was smilling at Julie's intelegent comment rather than the point that was being made.
