Dear PG'ers, Sorry, I haven't spoken for a while. I've been far too much enjoying my Uni Holidays. Actually they shouldn't really call them holidays, all I did really was catch up the loads of work and spend a good 11 hours of each day in the studio. Arghh... I can't wait to graduate in September. I wasn't able to get hold of any more of the books, they are now fully out of print. However, I am happy to make a few copies of your favourite scenes, if anyone's interested. Or, remember talking about transcribing episodes... I was thinking that maybe we could each take a favourite scene, (check that no-one does the same) and transcribe it onto email. I did it once for the scene in Bad News - when Spike and Lynda have the most clever fight, and ended it with that sensational kiss - it took me about an hour. I don't know, it's a fairly large task, what does everyone think? I do believe that PG would be sensational to show in schools. The 2 episodes about suicide - Monday/Tuesday,Shouldn't I be taller? - and the 2-parter - Something Terrible - child abuse show that was handled so well and so delicately. I loved Colin at another level after that. Oh, Kryten, I definitely think you're a girl, because I'm 5'10 and had the same problems. And only a girl would use that wording. But, If you do turn out to be a guy ... may I say that you're extremely in touch with your feminine side. I just want to tell you that you're all fantastic, I love hearing about everything to do with PG, I can't stop praising it, it's largely under-rated and handles issues so well. Other shows dance around the problems and the kids are all "saying NO to drugs and alcohol" ... But the overdose episode kind of brings it back to the point of who's responsible ? And the sexual abuse showed suspect behavioural patterns and who to contact. The suicide episode's helped with the the who's responsible aspect. They actually showed it when I was at school about two years ago. Our year level was a little depressed and some were blaming themselves over the death of the student. It helped so much. I hope they make another series, and soon. So, in total, Lynda, the Phoenix, has successfully escaped death on two occasions - or maybe three from paint esphyxiation and nervous exhaustion, experienced three suicides and one death, flooded a restaurant, was nearly charged with breaking & entering, theft and possibly impersonation fraud (when she doubled as a exterminator), fired about 97 heads of the graphics department, broken up and gotten back together with her American boyfriend more times than I have fingers and toes, been visited by a angel, manipulated everyone she's come in contact with, and visited the fires of hell ...all in three years of her life. Hell of a girl. Definitely the best thing character even written. Will Kenny "Aunt Rachel" and "Dublin" get together... ? Will Matt Kerr ever give us reason to believe he can smile, he just needs someone to show him how... ? Will Spike and Lynda, ever get better at saying I love you, without resorting to anagrams...? Will Kenny return from Australia... ? Will Colin find a date, with all arms and limbs, and no pets...? Stay tuned for more exciting installments on the PRESS GANG mailing list... Oh, I took Spike's advice... would you believe I dressed up as a bunny-gram to get an interview with someone, after trying for weeks to get past her secretary. And would you believe it worked. Oh, and so convenient that Kenny's in Australia... When English actors leave a series why do they always go to Australia ? And when Australian actors leave a series, why do they go to England to become singers ? You gotta wonder how that works.
