I think the second series is the best. It was after watching "At Last A Dragon" that I discovered the brilliance that is Press Gang. I love the look of the first two series. Series 3-5 all have a more expensive, high colour look to them which is nice to look at but somehow I prefer the slightly less glamorous look to the first two seasons. The episodes in the first two seasons always seemed to have so much more going on than the later episodes, like Bad News and Head and Heart, which focused most of the attention on one story. I also love the fact that the gang are still at school in the first two series. The many scenes of the gang at school are very evocative of my own school days. I especially love the episode (don't recall which) where we see Lynda walking the school corridors and we hear kids singing hymns in the hall. Another fave scene is in Something Terrible when we see Spike, Lynda and Colin on the school staircase. I love that scene. Reminds me of my old school. There's a certain charming innocence to the first two series that are not as evident in the later series when the gang have all left school and have left home. There's also more of a cohesive feel to the second series which lends itself to watching the episodes in order, which isn't as strong in the later episodes where each episode is more isolated from the others. If there is a weaker series than for me it's the final series. Although, There Are Crocodiles is an absolute masterpiece. A more fitting and majestic final episode would be impossible to imagine. ---------------------- Regards Vince Deehan Wembley London http://www.deehan.demon.co.uk -- T H E P R E S S G A N G M A I L I N G L I S T By default, pressing 'reply' will send mail back to the list, not to the author of the message you're replying to.
