When you are asleep, you can still take in information. I think that I
remember something about a study where they rang bells, etc, around
sleeping people to see if it affected them, and they remembered hearing
bells, etc, or having related things happening in their dreams. I know
that I've had pretty bizarre dreams involving things being said on the
early morning news from my clock-radio. What I thought happened, when I
saw it, was that she smelled the smoke and felt the heat while she was
unconscious, and her brain kinda constructed the dream with the fire and
the hot room. I guess that the dead guys were her subconscious - and her
subconscious worked out that the smoke and heat meant that the room was
on fire.
But then again, maybe I'm over analysing again.
