hi Joy, i'm zoe and i am also new to the list but have been a press gang
fan since 1993 when i discovered it during my last term at school. I
watched it all through term 3 and then it finished on the last day of
school before we all went off to do the HSC. when it rescreened in 1994 i
managed to tape a lot of the episodes. And now that i am once again
enduring stuvac, this time at age 21 and in 4th year uni, i still find
solace in watching reruns in my study breaks. Sadly i am nearing the end of
my collection which is half-complete- perhaps that is just as well, as
exams begin on friday.
i don't really have a problem with people labelling press gang as a kids
show, for a start, a lot of people haven't even heard of it. The other
people i know who have seen it (friends from school and uni) also love it.
My Dad also finds it very funny and used to watch it with me when it
screened in 1994. the humour is actually quite sophisticated and dry most
of the time, totally suitable for "older children" (ie those in their 20s!)
i keep meaning to write to the abc and ask them to show it again, only i
don't know how seriously they take those sorts of letters. i also keep
meaning to go to an abc shop and check out the videos- but if they are
available, it is probably in 3 episode blocks, each for $29.95 or something
outrageous!
must get back to work

Zoe
