sorry to disagree, i for one am not a huge fan of the 5th PG series. i only
have 3 of the episodes and while i watch them along with all the others, i
remember being sorely disheartened when i watched them for the first time
on tv. Lynda disappointed me the most. While in episodes such as "There are
crocodiles" she is good old, sensible, true to herself Lynda, i found
epsiodes like "Food, Love and Insecurity" ridiculous. I didn't much like
"Quarter to Midnight", either. I didn't like the way she collapsed into a
blubbering mess calling spike's name (PLEASE don't all write back saying if
i was stuck in an air-tight vault, that's what i'd do, too, and yes, she
was pretty smart to come up with the 4 points, 2 lines, where they cross
thing). The problem is with shows where a lot of the story line rests upon
unresolved romantic tension is that when that tension is resolved, the show
falls a bit flat. I love press gang for what it was, but i have to say that
the 1st 3 series were definitely the best. it's really sad to part with
characters we all know and love and we wish there would be 100 series, but
in a show set amongst school kids when they've only got a year of school
left, there are limitations to how far you can extend it past that!!
On a more positive note, however, about the 5th series, i have to agree
with you Renee, the beginning of windfall when colin throws all julie's
pets out the window, is absolutely hilarious, i still remember being in
stitches when i first saw it!
nice to see us back on the topic of press gang, by the way!
