I think this is a reflection on our age, and lack of independence. The
person whose name appears on the message is usually a parent. I have
observed this phenomenon on other lists too....often a woman will be using
an e-mail account set up in her husband's name. I know that with my
provider, it costs about $25 to attach a name to the account....so people
are understandably loath to pay an extra $25 just so that someone else in
the family can get the correct name on their messages.
