Here are segments from Anthony Lane's review of "SpiceWorld" concerning PG
alum director Bob Spiers:

"Even so, those (performed musical) hits are sweetly energetic, like sex
without the rude bits, and you might have thought the director, Bob Spiers,
would have the gallantry to stand aside and let the Girls do their
stuff...Spiers is no mug having directed "Absolutely Fabulous" for the BBC,
but it has to be said that nearly every scene...falls on its nose."
