your right a Gazette regular staffer would have had more impact but
PG was a childrens program - that level of intenseity may have
been to much for the producers. They want a character who can be
cured/killed from the plot easly while still making a point, so the
audence can feel sympathy etc and then return to normal. This also includes
David (sorry don't remember his other name) and Donald Cooper.
