A reflection of Steven Moffat's Scottish heritage, I would say. I went to
school with several Billys and Bobbys, Raymond is certainly not unheard of, and
Malcolm... well, that's what "Calum" is Gaelic for!
Donald is a very Scottish name too, although I can't say I grew up with any--
I'm a lowlander, but it's pretty commonplace in the Highlands.
And Ruby Murray is Glasgow rhyming slang for curry, so maybe Steven had
something else on his mind at the time...
