HI Gang,

Actually, being born to US parents makes you a citizen as does being born
in the USA (I think). In the UK, if you were born to a British father
anywhere in the world, you have an automatic right to citizenship, however
if you were born to a British mother before 1980 you do not automatically
have the same right. So Spike would not necessarily have had a British
passport (we know he had an USA passport). Also he (we assume) was born in
the USA.
Having said all that, I suspect he would have been a permanent resident of
the UK, which would have allowed him to work anywhere in the UK, it was
more common back in the days when the USA forbade its citizens from having
two passports (duel nationality?).
