Actually, I don't think I ever replied to that post - mainly because I
couldn't remember what my first ep was - but I have a feeling I may have
seen ANI first as well... mind you, I think I only saw bits of it, and
continued to try to get around to watching it from then on (I worked a
couple of nights a week at that stage). I may be completely lying about
that, as A Night In is (in and of itself) my favourite story (erm...I
think), which makes it loom a little larger in my memory than it may
actually have been at the time. I do know that when I eventually did
get around to watching a full episode, it was season two, and I had work
the next two days. I taped the episodes those days and enjoyed them so
much I just kept on taping them (my deep and abiding respect for
copyright laws notwithstanding) and have watched them more times than
some small children watch "Mary Poppins" (trust me, they can watch that
movie a _lot_ of times - I have a younger sister :) ).

Well, that's sorta true. I only really conciously realised how early an
episode it is last year (while arguing with Kevin :)). It seems like it
has to be quite a way in to the series because of it's depth in
characters, but it's actually only the fifth episode. And I suppose you
don't actually need that much prior knowledge of the characters, as ANI
is the first *really* deeply character-building story (the previous ones
being relatively plot-based in comparison), it's not too bad an entry
point.

Here Here (not to besmirch the work of the cast, crew and Bob
"King'o'Comedy" Spiers :) )

Spot the redundant word in that sentence :)
Murray, who has now finished checking his mail and is now returning to
the task at hand: statistics!
