It is absolutely shocking!! I sometimes wish that my parents had named me
something like 'Jane' (actually, that's my sister's name) just so people
could SPELL MY NAME!! I get so many variations on my name it's not funny.
Actually, it sometimes is really funny how people spell it (I got
'Caphrin' from some REALLY confused individual), but mostly it's annoying.
I usually get the 'K' thing, but also other variables too. Added to the
fact that my surname is 'McTavish', which most people think is McIntosh,
McTabish, or even McCabbage (yes, that is no joke), I have an extremely
annoying name for other people to write. It is a rare thing for people to
get right first time. Even friends who I have had for years cannot spell/
write my name properly. The McTavish thing is hard, because the 'T' is
always capital, and the 'c' is actually one of those fancy elevated 'c's.
So please, PLEASE, if you have any friends who are called Catherine, or
are Scottish/Irish, please do them the favour of learning how to correctly
spell their names!
