Julie definitely changes a lot - even within shows. In TAC, we've got
her running off with footballers one minute, and taking a serious
objection to Lynda not involving her in the paper's troubles the next.
I think she's a lot more serious in series four (perhaps because of
the nature of her inclusion (as a replacement for Kenny)). In series
five she becomes a bit more of an amalgum of the original Julie and the
series four one.. and it doesn't work as well as it might have if her
return to the series had been on her own terms from the start... Mind
you, while agreeing that her nature changes to some extent, I don't
think the different sides to her characterare completely inconsistent by
any means, and I didn't have any problem with laughing at one side and
seeing her as a decent assistant editor as well. As for Lucy Benjamin,
I think she was great, and delivered lines from both sides of her
character flawlessly.

Actually, complaints about Julie (and indeed Lucy Benjamin) have flowed
about on the list before: Steven himself said, after reading some of
them "won't you guys ever stop picking on Lucy" or words to that effect
:)

Nah!
I'm afraid I may be a little frazzled as well, statistics has a nasty
habit of stealing my soul away... :)
