I think Julie as vicious is more from the fourth/fifth series
version; in the first series she strikes me as more naive than
anything else - certainly, when it comes to contre-temps with Lynda,
she's not able to give as good as she gets, like she does in the
later series. Although she gets so little airtime in the first
series that it's probably pushing it to try to define her character.

Incidentally, does anyone else find it interesting that both Sam
(in...oh, the first episode of the second series, the name of which
I've just managed to completely forget) and Julie (in "Bad News") are
compared, none-too-favourably, with Lynda? Maybe they've got more in
common than we like to think?!

Adios - it's gone 11 at night, which is far too late for me to be
thinking straight.
