It's easy Eavan, trust me. Here's my possible scenario again - a
friend/relo/person who gets a kick out of gossiping/reliable contact -
who works at the hospital tells the magazine reporter. So how does the
hospital contact know you say? Maybe because they were there when
whatshisname was brought in (the ambos would say where they had come
from and reports would also have to be filled in) or maybe because
he/she has been chatting to relatives who come into to mourn their dear
comatosed family member (not necessarily to elicit information sneakily,
people do just chat)
Think of Spike's comment to Lynda about never understanding reporting.
There are dozens of ways to get information, not all of which would
occur to joe average on the street. But if you make a living out of
reporting information, you better be pretty good at finding that
information.
