On Wed, 19 Nov 1997, John Hunt spake thusly: --snip-- > Anyway if Mr Maringo was a fake (and Colin knew > that)why did they arrange for Spike and Lynda to get hypnotised. Mr Maringo > said himself that he never expected to suceed with Spike and Lynda. If he > didn't suceed with Spike and Lynda why would Lynda write about it? Therefore > the whole thing about getting Spike and Lynda hypnotised would have been a > waste of time. When Lynda & Spike are outside his door she says that they "only have to catch him in the attempt". They've already got the story with the marriage guidence counsellors problem (divorce the bitch), Spike & Lynda are just going for the evidence. Lynda plainly doesn't expect him to suceed either: "It's you and me because we're strong personalities" Spike: "I thought it was just you that had the strong personalities" :) As for why marengo would have gone along with it knowing it would fail, well, he only needed to make an attempt to get on the front page, and he had plenty of other (fake) evidence that he really could do it. Holding on is one of my favorite eps, probably the best constructed comedy/farce PG ep, and probably one of the best constructed eps ever. I came to this conclusion when I finally figured out how lynda got the tape in zoe's walkman (a point that had been bugging me for ages - she did it while she was behind the couch, of course). It's also got one of the best bimbo lines ever, Zoe: <alarmed> "What have I done to your arm!!" > Emily Hunt Matt neale. As for stuff that other people like, I've just watched "Ghost in the Shell" - probably the best sci-fi film since BladeRunner, and certainly better than the current crop (gattaca, contact, event horizon etc..) -- T H E P R E S S G A N G M A I L I N G L I S T By default, pressing 'reply' will send mail back to the list, not to the author of the message you're replying to.
