Well, I have to back Vince on that one, I had a vague thought that Sullivan may even have said something like "haven't I told you about categorising people" (or words to that effect) but I have no idea about whether it was even in that story. I do remember Sullivans tone, however, which (to me) sounded very despairing of Lynda's quickness to judge and categorise. >> > I think he must have been a draftee, considering what Kerr was able >> > to tell Lynda after he was dead. I thought David was a volunteer, given his extreme "enthusiasm" to be on the writing team, although he could have been a draftee, I suppose ... - no, wait, he must have been a volunteer, as otherwise the option to quit the gazette wouldn't have been open to him (as inferred when Lynda said she wouldn't let him on the writing team, but she would let him come back with everything forgotten) - remember the draftee's choice "your last chance: join the Junior Gazette or get kicked out of school" (Spike, "Page One). >>> I think they considered him a >> > possible suacide and thought that the Junor Gazette might help >> > prevent it. Unfortunatly they forgot to warn Lynda. >> Sorry Natacha, but again I disagree. There is no suggestion that they >> knew David was suicidal. I am quite sure that no one knew how depressed >> David was. I'm with David again - I _really_ don't think that there was any suggestion that they (Matt Kerr and Mr Sullivan) thought he was suicidal - maybe, as Michele said, Sullivan: >did know that he was depressed and a lonely boy but I wouldn't think any morethan that. As regards Kerr's comments about David (which I got the feeling might be the basis for some of the ideas about K&S knowing about Davids condition)(Kerr said "from what I understand, David was ...(a lonely guy or whatever)") I always thought that these were things he'd gleaned since the suicide had happened - I mean - in Kerr's position, you would want to find out about the fellow involved, wouldn't you?
