>I think Lynda is maligned about her suposed lack of memory for people >- she jsut couldn't remmeber their names "The Tall one", Whats his >name" she knew who they were quite specificaly but didn't have the >right memory for their names. Some people remmeber faces but not >names, and Lynda was one of these people she just bacame rude and >agressive to cover her embarisment. > >Natacha I was always under the impression that Lynda did know everyone's names but liked the image of herself beingn too busy and/or not sympathetic enough to know things like what someone was called. It is used quite often in episodes such as "There Are Crocodiles", "Bad News" and (as you refered to above, Natacha), "Holding On". Julie, knowing the old Lynda tricks says after Lynda has called her Sam once again "It's Julie, not Sam, Julie and you're only pretending you forget to annoy me, well it does annoy me so cut it out" or something along those lines. Lynda also tries her "Lynda-heart-of-teflon-Day image when she was pretending to sack that girl in (name escapes me for this instant)......... well anyway that episode. She may have even pretended she didn't know about the party whistle noise in order to strengthen her no nonsense, strictly business attitude. Although personally I believe that that was designed purely as a comic moment where we could all have a laugh at Lynda's expense. Mind you Natacha also has a point about Lynda becoming rude and aggressive to cover embarassment. I do a similar thing. One of my few faults (everybody reading this allows themselves can allow themselves afew moments to control their fits of hysterical laughter before reading on), is that I make a joke of something if I am in danger of exposing myself to public ridicule. For example last year when talking to a girl that I don't know very well I asked why she didn't live with her mother, when she was complaining about her stepmother (the words were out just as I rememberd that her mother was dead). Her being a sensitive person stupid old me tried to remedy the matter by saying (in a half joking way) "Your mother is still dead is she?". I am afraid to say that that didn't really help much. In fact I am also afraid that pressgang hits too hard home at times and I find myself thinking that I am more like Lynda than any other character in the series. Natacha, with whom I have been discussing a mini pressgang convention for those fortunate enough to live in Adelaide, shudders at the thought (especially as I understand she associates more strongly with Sarah) Emily Hunt -- T H E P R E S S G A N G M A I L I N G L I S T By default, pressing 'reply' will send mail back to the list, not to the author of the message you're replying to.
