I have never seen "Shouldn't I Be Taller" but my cousin (who also has good
taste in matters concerning Press Gang, unlike some of my "friends"{I don't
expect anyone to understand this but it was just something that needed to be
said}) explained the basics of it to me. I agree that Lynda would be very
likely to hold a grudge against Julie because she supposed that another
human being was capable of replacing her. However I don't think Julie would
have been fired, mainly because Lynda would have had no time for her in "Bad
News" if she had approached Lynda for a job after being fired (I also
remember something about Julie going to art school in Scotland which was a
detail that was included in one of the books). I also think that Lynda
preffered Sam to Julie but I don't think she would even admit that to
herself, let alone imply that to Julie. I thought (and I may be wrong) that
the whole Julie/Sam mixup of names was just Lynda trying to imply that she
dosn't care too much about minor details about names; trying to give the
impresion that all the lower members of the team are not important enough to
have their names remembered. I think that Lynda did like Sam subconciously,
(for those who know what that word means {that was a reference to "Money,
Love and Birdseed" and not meant as a slight on your [I daresay excellent]
intelectual abilities}) (as you can see I like brackets). Mostly because Sam
has enough personality to stand up to Lynda and show that she can be just as
selfish and bitchy as Lynda. I think Lynda enjoys the competition because it
allows her to be even bitchier.
Actually does anybody else have the Press Gang books? Does anyone know why
they were published by the ABC? I assumethat the books were origionally
published in England as the series and Bill Moffat (I guess). Also on the
back of one of the books it says that there are pictures of some of the
actors from the series (there are not), inplying that they had been
published before and not re-edited properly.
