I'm new to the list so I hope I send this to the right place and don't ask
anything that's already been asked (which I doubt because this is really
obscure).
In the episode Interface there is a scene where Spike is in his room (right
before Lynda comes in and Spike thinks she is his father). In the
background, on his closet, underneath a football pennant there is what
appears to be a Confederate flag (the flag of the southern United States
when they seceeded from the rest of the US and is now often considered to be
a racist symbol). When I saw this I was a bit stunned, not because it was a
big deal in the episode or anything, but it seems that the people who
designed the set decided that was a necessary item for a typical American
teenager's bedroom. Well, its not, especially one like Spike who's supposed
to be from New York. Well, I guess I'm making a big deal over nothing, but
after seeing some of these episodes so many times, little things like this
tend to stand out. Anyway, any thoughts?
