I'd tend to place the Spelling productions into the soap opera basket as
opposed to drama, where I'd situate Press Gang.
I can't really criticise them in the context of a PG mailing list,
because they're in a totally different genre and different rules apply to
their creative merits.

I always *loathed* the Degrassi shows. I remember hating it every time they
took Doctor Who off air and replaced it with these whining, pathetic kids.
(How I remember it, anyway. It's probably not that bad if I went back at
looked at it now.)

Speaking as an aspiring actor and writer for television, I disagree. People
need choice! It lets people like me have a far better chance of breaking
into the industry. :-)
