Karen,
Well i dont know about in England but mobile phones (cell phones to you
yanks) aren't expensive at all here in Australia. Nearly everyone i know
has one. There is healthy competition. You can pretty much get a handset
for free if you sign a 12 to 24 month contract with a provider. I only
pay $10 a month for access, and 20 cents for each 30 secs peak rate, 10
cents every 30 secs off peak - which is when i make most of my calls.
And voice mail is only 5 cents for 30 seconds. And if anyone still on
analogue there are cheaper deals around. And others where you get up to
$52 of free weekends calls a month for a low fee of $25 a month. Sorry i
used to work for Optus.
I assumed the gazzette would pick up Lynda's phone tab anyway.
Happy New Year,
Belinda
