I still beleve that Lynda is alive and nothing can convice me other
wise. Colin is a friend of Lynda's, dispite dinials from both
parties. As for not going to see Spike first I think Lynda wanted to
sort Colin out and then relax/collaps when she saw Spike. Her nervous
energy would never have let her do this without securing the paper.
Away as Lynda shows at the begining of Bad News she cares about the
paper because of the people it employs.
