In the cases of Donald Cooper and Whatsisname, the deaths had more of an
impact on thew newsroom than you suggest. In the other cases (and, indeed,
those ones), you could hardly say that they killed the characters to get rid
of them, as they only appear in one episode (well, with one exception that
those who've seen all the eps know about ;)).
