Why is it a cliche? The newsroom is destroyed and the future is
uncertain. The only thing I didn't like about the ending was that if
she did survive, Lynda made it seem as if they would not have any more
troubles. Everything worked out great even though the newsroom was
destroyed. It would be great if that were true, but that was a little
too neat for an ending.
Sorry, but in my opinion, the getting together with everyone would be
lame cause it would be un-Lynda like, and would just not fit with the
rest of the show. Lynda is agood person at heart, but she will always
be Lynda and deciding to hang out with the group is not who she is.
She is the type to manipulate her supposed death to her advantage.

I don't see Day Dreams as having this total closure ending. In that
one, we are pretty sure in the end that Lynda will tell Spike she
loves him, but at the same time, you see part of her rethink the idea.
She tells him she "thinks" she has something to tell him. I also like
the ending as is, cause I don't want to see everything end happier
ever fter. That's just not Spike and Lynda. Their relationship was
always uncertain (well, it was certain they loved eachother, just not
that they would stay together) and this just adds to that uncertainty.
