What everyone, as far as I can see, has failed to realise in this
discussion of how PG ended was that Steven Moffat did not know that TAC
would be the last ever PG episode. He left it open ended, as he did with
all five series, so that the show would be able to continue should another
series be commisioned. If Steven had known for definite that TAC would
be the last ever PG ever, I'm certain that the final show would have been
more in fitting with what many people on this list were expecting.

Speaking for myself, I can't think of a better way to end PG. I'll never
forget how exhilarating it was the first time I saw it. A real rollercoaster
of emotions. The scene where Julie says to Lynda, "You'd have told Kenny",
kills me every time. I'm sure Steven Moffat missed Kenny as much as we did
and this line was just sublime.
