I thought it was like a Lynda Day sneaky 'power struggle' thing. If Spike were willing to buckle under and actually do what she said, he would get what he wanted. But of course, he wasn't willing to, and she sure as hell wasn't going to make it easy for him. And I wonder how long it took them to clean the place up afterwards...
