I mean I'm from Texas, but I don't really speak much differently than most people I've met from other areas of the US. Spike probably falls into this category. Also, his family may have moved around a lot. I think of lobsters as a symbol of Maine too, but Spike is definitely from New York. Look at the banner behind his bed (I think it says something like New Rochelle High School, New Rochelle, NY).
