Matt, I am amazed that you feel this way about WAVELENGTH. I have just this minute finished watching it and I thought it was wonderful. The acting from the two boys and the girl was excellent and far better than I had expected. There were so many great lines in it that I'll have to watch it again to catch them all. I was surprised at how "adult" much of the humour was but it wasn't too outrageous so I don't think younger kids will mind. The rapport between the two boys was excellent and their banter was very well played and seemed natural. Paul Cornell's script was great with lots of sharp dialogue and a good quick pace to keep things moving. The dream sequence and the scene in the cafe reminded me of PRESS GANG , which may or may not have been intentional. (Probably not). > And did anyone else have a problem imagining those two nice > well-brought-up boys spraying graffiti, which was hinted at? I must have missed that. Well if they have the nerve to set up a pirate radio station then a little bit of self-promoting graffiti wouldn't be beyond them ! > In fact the whole cast was nastily stereotyped; Really ? Kind of sums up the way CITV has gone since > the good old days of the likes of PG, Streetwise and Children's Ward. Given that the two main characters are clearly about 15 or 16 then this would be about the same age as Lynda and Co. when PG started. This is children's telly after all. To be honest I expected the lead characters to be much younger than they were. > It's shot on video tape; I think running it through a filmy filter > would have made it look less staged and more expensive. Like PG. :-) I must say it really would have had a classier look to it, if it had been filmed like PG was. It had a very definite "children's telly" look to it which PRESS GANG never had. > Not that it was all bad; there were some great lines in there just > looking for some decent delivery, in particular the banter between > the girl and the guys reminded me of Spike and Lynda. I watched it with my brother and he said exactly the same thing about the Spike and Lynda similarity. I can't say it occurred to me at all. The main difference here is that it's the girl who's doing the chasing , and the boy being all coy with the addition of his drooling best mate ! > I hope Paul Cornell hasn't gone totally mainstream; his fanfic stuff is > fantastic... Fanfic ? Do you mean PG fanfic ? I would love to read this Matt . Where is it ? > Well, that's my moan over, hopefully someone can point out all the > good bits I missed. :-) Matt, I know you'll grow to love this show. It's the nearest thing we'll ever have to getting new Press Gang !
