I have to disagree. To Spike Lynda's words aren't mean, they are the
verbal equivalent of foreplay. Spike enjoys toying with Da Boss and being
toyed with. I always thought that Spike was bored a lot and that's why he
was always getting into trouble. With Lynda, life is never boring which is
part of Spike's attraction to her. They are the teenage version of
Moonlighting's Dave & Maddie.

Would Spike choose Sarah? Never. Would Sarah choose Spike? In a
second! Watch Sarah watch Spike and you can tell she harboured a small crush
on him for the first couple of seasons at least until she got to know him as
a person instead of that mysterious mischievous American. Spike was able
to act out things that Sarah would not have the courage to do herself. But
Sarah would never do anything to hurt Lynda. Firendships are very
important to Sarah; she always struck me as someone who had few friends but
was loyal to the death to those she cared about.
