OK guys, I've been a little quiet on the list of late, but in light of
the recent, uh, sort of bitter little series of postings, thought it was
time to jump back in. (did someone say "diversion"?)
So, here I am, with not a brand-spanking new topic at all, but one I've
never had a decent bash at (and there are lots of us newish folk, so it
can be brand-spanking new for us).
It's about that old chestnut - drugs and TAC. When I joined the list in
my first post I called it something like "after-school-specialish" and
preachy and said it was my least favorite episode. And hosed down in
flames (albeit soft and gentle ones, thanks guys) I was.
But I still don't like the episode and I imagine I'm pretty much alone
here on the list. I've also read that Steve Moffat (genius, genius,
genius) was most proud of this episode. So without sounding like a twat-
can people please explain to me why the episode and its message is so
powerful? Is it meant to stop kids from ever wanting to take drugs?
Dissuade those being offered drugs? Or say something to kids who are
dabbling in drugs already? All or none of the above?
 "Please explain!"
(yes I'm guilty of a teensy side-joke for aussies - just so no-one feels
left out, "Please Explain!" has become the shrill catchcry of
Australia's newest political figure Pauline Hanson - who is carving a
career out of peddling racism and playing on insecurities)
